Real Estate Flops and Celebrities Feel the Pinch!

The real estate market flops this year. Many celebrities have invested in property which has decreased in value. Nicohlas Cage is an actor who has lost a great amount of money in real estate. Two of his New Orleans homes were appraised at $3.7 million and $3.45 million, but combined only was worth $4.5 million at a foreclosure auction weeks ago. Also, his Bel-Air home was on the market for $35 million, when the price dropped to 17 million and then sold for $15 million. Not only has this celebrity had losses in his real estate, but others which include rapper 50 Cent and Shaquille O’Neal have experience great money loss as well.

Albertsons Facing a Lawsuit!

A Colorado lawsuit which includes Albertsons vs. 168 former and current employees. Albertsons is facing a 8.9 million dollar discrimination lawsuit and the reason is because of offended graffiti that was in the grocery stores bathroom and many racial slurs said to black and hispanic workers. Many employees ato were so offended by the graffiti that they would go home to use the bathroom. When Albertsons was called to speak about the issue, the spokesperson didn’t respond back…People should not have to feel this way working in their environment. America being so diverse in their culture, it’s a shock to still find out situations of this sort.

The holiday season is here and it seems like all of these small businesses find ways to help to contribute to the less fortunate . A cupcake company called SusieCakes has an event going on starting Dec.15-23 and if you bring an unwrapped toy, you get a free cupcake. It is a good way to help out in the communnity and I find that our society to be much into the hype of things…Many small business seem to only throw these events during the holiday because it it “the time of giving. However, “the time of giving” is year around. As you look in the newspapers and watch the media, there is saturated images about helping others. After the holidays we usually see images of that sort by churches or smalll group organizations helping the less fortunate…

Lindsay Lohan Goes to India

Lindsay Lohan went to India to film a documentary on trafficking. Also, she blogged on twitter stating “Over *40 children saved* so far,Within one day’s work…… This is what life is about….. Doing THIS is a life worth living!!!” I think when celebrities put theirselves in a great position when they help others. It is life changing for the celebrity, for the people involved, and for fans of her. Lindsay Lohan has given an image of a “party-girl” and I think that her going to India shows a more mature side of Ms. Lohan. Marina Hyde of the Guardian Hyde’s article, stated “what the hell does the BBC want to shoot a documentary about human trafficking with Lindsay Lohan for?” I think that no matter what type of image Lohan has given through the media…she is doing something kind and lifechanging to many, people shouldn’t bash on her just because she is helping others.

Smoking Cigarettes!

I was reading the newspaper yesterday and I came across an article, the World Health Organization released a statement which said ” Tobacco use kills 5 million people every year, a figure that could rise if countries don’t take stronger measures to combat smoking.” The media emphasizes on many billboards and magazines on how cool people look with a cigarette, and the warning sign is always the smallest thing that appears on the ad. I admire that Santa Monica College is a smoke-free campus. Well the smokers have a section, but it is great for others that don’t smoke. Although there are ads that support smoking or anti-smoking. I think everyone has a choice, hopefully they choose wisely. Smoking is just like eating unhealthy, because you can develop cancer by both of them.

Sarah Palin just ended her book tour with her new book Going Rogue: An American Life .The book has sold over two million copies in two weeks. People were waiting in long lines waiting to meet Palin and get an autograph. Is it Palin’s brains, political views, or beauty that keeps people so interested??? What a journey it has been for Sarah Palin to be the governor of Alaska to running for vice president and an overnight icon to many, yet people still make jokes out of Palin. I just watched the Conan O’ Brien Show this weekend and Sarah Palin was on it. The skit had to do with her book and of course making a joke out of herself. However, I think the best comedy about Palin has to be Tina Feys’ inpersonation of her it’s hilarious. Comedy and Politics, great entertainment!

What a Great Look-A-Like!

Last Week on Sunday, I was watching a new reality show on MTV called the “Jersey Shore”. The reality show consists of eight people in there twentys’ moving to a beach house on the the “jersey shore” for a summer. Some of the Itialians on the show consider theirselves to be called “guidos”. There has been much conterversy over the fact that the “guido” has been sterotyped as an bad image for other Itailans. I find the controversy quite humorous because these young people are on a “reality show” that consists of drama, partying, drinking, and hooking up. I don’t see why people get so worked up over these shows? If you dont like it just change the channel! On the other hand for those who love drama, I think “the hills” has met its match in the drama world of “reality shows”.

Facebook or Myspace?

I created my myspace account a couple of years ago. I was so stoked, I thought it was the coolest networking site ever!!! You can reunite with old friends, creat a webpage of your favorite things and personal hobbies and establish a never ending list of “friends”. However, over the years it seems as if the page has updated and saturated so much stuff to the site. It’s so annoying! I’m just not as interested in the sight as I used to be. Most of my friends agree with me and have gotten rid of their myspace. This week I am finally deleting my myspace (Im so over it). On the other hand, I am now a huge fan of facebook. I absolutely love the site… I just hope that facebook doesnt end up like myspace and have many of their users lose interest. hmmm… I wonder in a couple years will this sight (facebook) annoy me like myspace has… and I will become a fan of another networking site???

Scientists have recorded the 2000′s to be the most warmest temperatures ever recorded. As of 2008, the warmest temperatures have been recorded and eight out of ten years have been the warmest. There is a global warming gas called methane which has released more on our planet than ever before. As the climate changes there has been a 3 percent increase of melted water in the sea each year.Not only is our earth being harmed, but our earth’s animals are endangered as well. Lakes have frozen later than expected and plants or flowers have bloomed earlier. The climate is definately shifting and “Going Green” is the term that many have used to help care for the endangered animals and our earth . Hopefully, many will take the small step pre-cautions to help save our earth!

Now everyone knows Tiger Woods is a Cheater. After listening to a recorded message he sent to one of his mistresses…

“Hey, it’s, uh, it’s Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favor. Um, can you please, uh, take your name off your phone. My wife went through my phone. And, uh, may be calling you. If you can, please take your name off that and, um, and what do you call it just have it as a number on the voicemail, just have it as your telephone number. That’s it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye.”

Tiger Woods story has made headlines everywhere. I mean this guy has a beautiful wife and two children and is a great successful athlete, however, I guess for some people all of that is not enough. Knowing that it was more than one woman that he cheated on his wife with is totally outrageous. I just dont understand the fact that he has to cheat I mean he is a grown man and if a man wants to go out and act as if he were single then he should not be married at all.
